Law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance call on February 3, 2024. During the incident, the suspect opened fire, striking an Aroostook County Sheriff’s deputy in the shoulder. K9 Preacher was shot while pursuing the suspect after he fled out the rear of the residence.

K9 Preacher was transported to an emergency veterinary hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds.

Our thoughts and prayers are with K9 Handler Sgt. Jonathan Russell, the Maine State Police, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, and their families.
