COMPETITION SERIES

Competition, Community, Training

The Hero Down Competition Series delivers professional grade matches at the highest level. We build and elevate practical shooting events across the Northeast by bolstering existing ranges and programs through the Hero Down Community.

We are the fastest growing competition movement in the Northeast. We raise the standard for law enforcement training. We bring veterans into the fold. We give ranked competitive shooters a way to drive real impact through coaching, mentorship, and match leadership.

Every event is built for performance and purpose. High stakes. Elite stages. Clear standards. A competition environment that pushes skill, accountability, and growth.

The Hero Down Competition Series uses practical shooting events to restore purpose, confidence, and community for veterans and first responders. Through camaraderie, mentorship, and peer support, competitors train, grow, and reconnect with those who understand their experiences. What begins as sport becomes a powerful path toward healing, resilience, and improved quality of life. Camaraderie, Mentorship, Connection.

HERO DOWN TEAM SHOOTOUT CHALLENGE

Competition. Community. Purpose.

The Hero Down Team Shootout Challenge is the East Coast’s premier team-based shooting competition, uniting top law enforcement, military, and civilian competitors in a mission-driven environment focused on readiness, teamwork, communication, and performance. What began in 2017 as The Gauntlet Combat Shootout — a grassroots 5-man team event supporting local veteran and first responder charities — quickly evolved into a regional movement built on skill, fitness, and true camaraderie.

Shaped by active-duty law enforcement and veterans of the Global War on Terror, the Shootout Challenge now stands as a showcase of skill, grit, and competitive spirit — while directly supporting wounded officers, veterans, and their families through mission-driven programs and initiatives. Hosted at Ridgeline Training Center in Dalton, NH, the event leverages one of the nation’s premier training facilities to deliver real-world performance challenges and elite-level development opportunities.

Each year, more than 30 teams battle for $30,000 in prizes, bragging rights, and performance-based recognition across a multi-day competition experience featuring:

  • 10 Main Stages
  • Top Shot Challenge
  • Speed Shoot-Off
  • Sponsor Showcase & Product Demos
  • Shooters Rendezvous Party

Since 2021, the event has helped veterans, law enforcement officers, and their families by donating more than $100,000 in critical support and resources. It builds lasting connections, strengthens hard skills, and unites competitors across the military, law enforcement, and civilian shooting communities.

Our mission is unwavering:

To support violently injured officers, wounded veterans, and their families through peer networks, performance-based training access, and strong community partnerships.

NEW ENGLAND TRIPLE CROWN THROWDOWN SERIES

Consistency. Adaptability. Performance.

The New England Triple Crown Throwdown Series is a multi-event competition designed to test shooters across varied ranges, conditions, and stage designs throughout the Northeast. Unlike single-match formats, the Triple Crown rewards consistency, adaptability, and preparation across an entire season.

Each match stands on its own while contributing to the overall series, challenging competitors to perform at a high level regardless of environment or venue. The series brings together law enforcement, military, and civilian shooters in a professional, standards-driven competitive setting.

Beyond performance, the Triple Crown strengthens the Hero Down mission by building regional community, developing mentorship opportunities, and creating meaningful pathways for veterans and officers to train, compete, and reconnect. It is competition with continuity – and purpose beyond the scorecard.

HERO DOWN BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU PROGRAM

Training. Discipline. Control.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu plays a critical role in the Hero Down Competition Series by developing control, composure, and decision-making under pressure. For law enforcement officers and veterans, BJJ provides a training environment that builds physical capability while sharpening mental resilience and emotional regulation.

Through structured training, open mats, and competition-based progression, participants develop confidence in close-contact scenarios, improve injury prevention, and strengthen overall readiness. Just as importantly, the mats become a place of community – where rank, background, and past experience give way to mutual respect and shared growth.

Hero Down’s BJJ programming supports both active officers and veterans by reinforcing discipline, accountability, and purpose. What begins as physical training quickly becomes a tool for recovery, confidence-building, and long-term wellbeing.

COMMUNITY-DRIVEN SUPPORT NETWORK

At the core of every Hero Down event is the belief that community saves lives.

Each series fosters:

Camaraderie
Service members, officers, and civilians train, compete, and grow side by side—rebuilding the sense of purpose and brotherhood often lost after service.

Mentorship
Ranked shooters coach officers and veterans, creating pathways for growth within the sport and beyond.

Connection
Competitors gain access to peer support, industry professionals, and a growing network dedicated to improving mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

Improving Quality of Life Through Purpose
For many veterans and first responders, competition becomes far more than sport:

  • It restores structure.
  • It rebuilds confidence.
  • It strengthens mental health.
  • It reconnects them to a community that understands their experiences.

The Hero Down Competition Series transforms competitive shooting into a vehicle for healing, growth, and purpose.
